The theme for this holiday week is ” Theatre ” as I illustrated one of Singapore’s bilingual theatre institutions, The Theatre Practice and Practice Tuckshop, nestled along the Waterloo Street Singapore.
The Theatre Practice is Singapore longest standing professional bilingual theatre institutions, a two storey blue and white heritage buildings with amazing design architecture. Apart from a member of Singapore Chinese language theatre alliance, it is also one of the art groups of Waterloo Street Arts belt.
It is a really wonderful place which provide unique program that coming training and performing arts.
Practice Tuckshop is also part of the theatre Practice programme. It is a cafe that celebrates the practice kampung hospitality spirit, located on the ground floor of a historical conservation shophouse with nice cosy atmosphere.
Architecturally, the design of the institution are classified as vernacular classical urban row houses, which usually feature tall ceilings and windows in sets of two or three on the upper floors. Vernacular design usually consists of two or three storeys height with a shop on the ground and residence above the shop.
Illustrating the building is a challenge for me. I love to try finding new perspectives to further enhance my thinking and creativity. For this artwork, I incorporated characters in art performance, fun adventure in a creative playground and coffee gathering. My aim is to further enliven the place, creating a drawing that are imaginative and warm, contributing to a culturally energetic Waterloo street neighbourhood. At the same time, conveying my appreciation for Singapore performing arts and theatre industry.

Happy holidays to everyone !!
