Art house under National Arts Council manages two key landmarks in Singapore, the art house and the Victoria theatre. In addition, it also runs the goodman arts centre, the drama centre and the Aliwal arts centre.
Art House has played an active role in the Singapore Arts industry, supporting art activities and programs. It is a beautiful building with distinctive design. Main architect is George Drumgoole Coleman and the architectural styles are the Victorian and Palladian architecture.
Goodman arts centre is a seven acre arts venue nestled within the culturally rich Mountbatten district serving as a place for art activities. Aliwal on the other hand has a strong focus on performing arts.
I loved the arts in Singapore and hope to raise broader interest in the art scene. In this artwork collection which combines art and fashion in a seamless manner, I created the architectural illustration of the two landmarks and art centre which incorporates four of my favourite fashion outfits inspired the popular American comedy drama, “Emily in Paris”.
These illustrations have a theme of style and fashion running through it. Apart from making an effort to support the arts community in Singapore, I also hope to promote the Rediscovering Singapore campaign.
In addition, these artwork aim to pay tribute to George Drumgoole Coleman, an Irish architect who is instrumental in the designing of the infrastructure in Singapore.
The Palladian architecture is a European architectural style characterised by classical forms, symmetry and proportion. Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall and the Art House used this type of architecture style.
Every building in Singapore is an architectural treasure and walking around makes you feel that you are surrounded by beauty everywhere.
This holiday season, escape with Emily Cooper to Singapore and go on an architectural art tour of the beautiful buildings with distinctive design and rich culture history.
