The Dance Ensemble Singapore is a great dancing group in Singapore that maintains a solid foundation of Chinese Dance philosophy under the guidance of Madam Yan Choong Lian, the founder of the company.
Dancing is an expression of our emotions through movement of our entire bodies. It is a great form of lifestyle that contribute to the well being of our health at the same time. Dance Ensemble Singapore is one of Singapore’s most active Chinese cultural dance group. It had moved into the Waterloo Street in 1995 under the National Arts Council to create a Waterloo street arts belt. The building used its space to conduct dancing classes, workshop and performances to promote the Chinese culture and performing arts.
I had illustrated 5 female dancers in 5 different dancing styles, the Flamenco, Yoga Dance, Hip Hop, Ballet and Chinese Contemporary Dance to make the overall artwork look cute, fun and enjoyable to watch.
The architecture of the building is unique in its own way too. I had so much fun sketching, drawing and illustrating digitally on its building which looks like a house. The building is adorned in white with an ornately balanced bright green, yellow, pink motif on its walls. The architecture of the building has the main features of high ceiling, tall windows, tiled brown rooftop and a garden compound. At the back of the building is a four storey building that contains 8 dance studios, a music studios, a conference room, an instructor room and a costume room.
In an effort to support and contribute to our local arts and culture sector, I had created this illustration, further reinforcing National Arts Council, Ministry of Culture, Community, Youth and National Heritage Board’s commitment to revitalising the arts and culture ecosystem.
Singapore is a beautiful city and hope my illustration enliven our city scenery.
