• Clifford Pier 90th Anniversary

This week, I have illustrated Clifford Pier, a historic landmark built in 1933 as a landing jetty for ships.

The former landing point was built and named after Sir Hugh Charles Clifford, governor of Straits settlements. The pier holds special memorable memories of my childhood as I remember watching cruises ferry tourist and local. Now the pier has been redeveloped as a dining destination and venue for dinner, events and weddings. It is also part of the Fullerton Heritage precinct which was launched in 2010.

This year June, it celebrates its 90th anniversary and in commemoration of the historic landmark, I have drawn its venue which contains the unique architecture with a roof structure comprising concrete arched trusses in a riband form.

Singapore is a multicultural city and I have specially drawn characters from different cultures coming together to celebrate this milestone of Clifford Pier, a place which holds special memories for everyone in Singapore.

Cheers to an amazing 90th anniversary !!
