Today is the lantern festival and I have illustrated Din Tai Fung to express my appreciation and love for this famous Taiwanese restaurant.
It has many outlets in Singapore and I had illustrated one of its outlet located at Resort World Sentosa , Asia premium lifestyle destination resort.
Din Tai Fung is ranked as one of the world top ten best restaurant. This celebrated authentic Taiwanese restaurant is famous for its Xiao Long Bao (steamed pork dumplings), a Chinese steamed bun in a bamboo steamer basket. Fried rice is another famous dish of Din Tai Fung with its tender juicy texture and golden egg rice.
Resort World Sentosa is Asia premium lifestyle destination resort and is located on Singapore’s resort island of Sentosa and is home to world class attraction including other attractions such as Universal Studio and S.E.A aquarium.
Lantern Festival or Spring Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the Chinese calendar, is a day which has its purpose of bringing people together. During this day, people consume food and light lanterns which are all traditional activities.
There are a lot of things to consider before drawing out this restaurant. Colour is an important aspect and I want to match its exterior storefront design as close as possible. At the same time, I also hope to capture the look and feel of the restaurant with vibrant colours all rendered in bright colours contrasted against the night skies. I started out with a simple sketch and penned in black to capture the essence of the restaurant architecture. Finally, I applied digital colouring to finalise the artwork.
Its outlet at Resort World Sentosa has eye catching storefront that delight food enthusiast and visitors. In order to make it more colourful and creative, I sketched out two cute ladies dressing up in fashionable chef inspired outfit, standing outside to show appreciation to visitor.
Sometimes the best restaurant prove the most challenging to translate and illustrate into evocative illustration.
Food brings people together and Din Tai Fung is a great location for family togetherness. Always a food lover and I feel excited to illustrate Din Tai Fung restaurant. By drawing this restaurant, I hope to express my appreciation and love for this famous Taiwanese dining restaurant.
Lantern Festival has its purpose of bringing people together to enjoy a special moment of wonder and celebration. Hope my illustration brightens up everyone and give everyone the strength to move forward in the coming year.
