To celebrate the Chinese Lunar New year, I will be illustrating and presenting the Fountain of Wealth, located on Singapore largest shopping complex, Suntec City.
Suntec City together with the Fountain of Wealth is designed by American film I.M Pei and Partners, together with New York Tsao and Mckown architects and Singapore D.P architect.
The Fountain of Wealth is a Singapore icon that symbolises the celebration of prosperity and wealth. It is an landmark attraction for visitors and locals especially during the Chinese New Year.
The Fountain had enhance Singapore and made its mark on the landscape. The Fountain is made of silicon bronze and consist of a circular ring 21m in diameter with a circumference of 66m supported by 4 bronze legs. It has a height of 13.8 m and was constructed to the Fengshui principles and is surrounded by the 5 office towers.
It is constructed in 1995 and was recognised by the Guinness book of records as the world’s largest man made fountain.
There is nothing quite majestic and spectacular as the beautiful fountain. Water is one of the 5 basic elements and is a symbol of wealth to Chinese. The Fountain adds both architectural intrigue to the overall location.
Jets of water cascading down from the ring, flowing inwards as a symbolic retention of fortunes coming in and bringing prosperity.
It is a challenge and pleasure to illustrate this Fountain and it take me days to properly render everything, from taking photographs of the subject, to sketching, applying outline , adding details and finally digital colouring. I must say that I felt glad and a sense of accomplishment after finishing this illustration in time for the Chinese New Year.
Soak in the positive wealth energy at the Fountain of Wealth by enriching the fountain clockwise 3 times , stretching out your right hand over the water and make a wish.
Happy New Year.
