Today is Singapore’s birthday, I had crafted a series of illustrations to celebrate its 57th year of independence.
National Day of Singapore is celebrated every year on August 9 in commemoration of Singapore’s independence in 1965. This is an important day celebrated by everyone in Singapore.
In conjunction with Singapore Tourism Board, National Arts Council and Health Promotion Board’s efforts to position Singapore as an urban wellness destination, my illustration invites everyone to reimagine together with me on the future of Singapore landscape and hope to present a futuristic modern and beautiful wellness city to the world.
My artwork comprises the backdrop of Marina Bay Sands Hotel, an integrated resort with distinctive architecture design, capturing the beauty of Marina Bay Hotel’s distinctive architecture and its surrounding landscape. I had also incorporating characters in different wellness activities but they are all one united in the colours of red and white. The various wellness activities include tennis, soccer, volleyball, basketball, sky park yoga, swimming, boxing, rock climbing, surfing and many more.
I am a massive fan of sneakers and to mark this important occasion, I had also specially created a pair of sneakers taking inspiration from famous shoe brands like Adidas and Nike. I put together cute characters in the colours of red and white in combination with a series of interesting love you hand heart designs to celebrate Singapore’s birthday.
I love Singapore and have a strong connection to the city and my aim of the artworks are to celebrate the city’s unique culture and personality while at the same time reimagine the future of its landscape.
