Today is Hari Raya Puasa, a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide also known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The word Hari Raya mean day of celebration.
It is not the Muslim new year but marks the end of month of ramadan. Muslims would visit mosques and recite prayers. Decorations such as lanterns, lamps, crescent moon and star garlands are common in mosques during this period.
I have specially drawn the Masjid Yusof Ishak mosque located at 10 Woodlands Drive 17, officially opened in 2017. The mosque is named after Singapore first president Yusof Ishak and it is one way of honouring our first president and his significant role in promoting harmonious relations in our country.
I have carefully crafted its unique architecture which blends tradition mosque characteristics with Nusantara heritage elements. The colour scheme of the mosque consists of brown and light yellow.
It is a very big and well designed neighbourhood mosque which consists of a multi purpose hall, roof terrace, seminar and conference room.
Today is a very significant day for all Muslims and I would like to wish all Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya !
