It is a family run business that started out as Ocean Garments in 1962. It operate a factory located in Redhill Industrial Estate.
This year October, OG will be moving out of Orchard Point after 18 long years. It is really sad to see department stores moving out one by one. OG is a one stop destination for apparels, shoes, bags, housewares and toys. Its first outlet opened at Chinatown and went on to open two other outlets at Bugis and Orchard.
I remember that as a 80s kid, I always visit the place and going to my favourite toys section. It is my first exposure to a department store as a kid. I love looking and buying the 1980s M.A.S.K cartoon toys.
To commemorate OG 60th anniversary this year, I have created an illustration to celebrate its occasion.
At the same time, it is a way for me to pay tribute to this home retailer of which are sadly closing down its outlet at Orchard Point after 18 long years.
I have put together characters in shopping mood with an architecture drawing of the building of Orchard Point which holds special memories for us.
The Shopping Mall will be gone but it will not be forgotten.
