The Warehouse Hotel was built in 1895 along the Singapore river and hotel was the inaugural hotel of Singapore based hospitality firm Lo Behold Group.

Following its renovation in 2017 designed by local agency Asylum and architecture studio Zarch Collaboration converting the former spice warehouse into a boutique hotel.

It now existed as a 37 room hotel. There are some retained old design elements which instilled a sense of place such as window doors and Chinese characters. Hotel balances the rich historical touches with modern design.

Rickshaw was first brought to Singapore in 1880 becoming a major form of public transport. By illustrating rickshaw into the illustration. I hope to bring back memories of the 19th century.

Nothing defines a place as distinctly as its architecture. From airport hotel, business hotel to boutique hotel, Singapore has something for every hotel lover. Three warehouses are combined and outfitted into a hotel that fronts the Singapore river. It has a distinctive symmetrical balance design exterior and jacked roofs. Jacked roofs on top allows in light and give it an airy feel.

All the distinctive and original features are carefully restored. There are minibars, guidebooks and restaurant with locally inspired cocktails. There are also reading materials related to Singapore Art history and culture. The hotel decor are urban and clean. It is timeless and glamorous with wonderful atmosphere.

I always look for colours when I step into a hotel. When I illustrated this hotel, I consider how the elements like colour and texture. Colours bring a drawing to life and I tried to use colour carefully to bring awareness to the interior. Details of the exterior building are executed carefully too to give dimension to the drawing. Colour palette and characters like the two super cute ladies Rachel and Alois are drawn to create an impact into the artwork.
