no place like home

As the world and Singapore adjust to the new normal of life under lockdown, I have created this artwork on what can be achieved by spending more time at home.

At this moment, the best way to stay safe is to stay apart. Home is still where my creativity is. Many of my work projects have been cancelled and postponed as I make my way through life in quarantine. But apart from that, nothing has changed that much as I am an introvert person whom don’t like crowds and prefer to eat at home.

Before the circuit breaker, I was living a busy life on a daily basis juggling between my day job and I am also handling some design projects. During my time in quarantine at home, I get up early in the morning, start my morning with a cup of coffee and stick to my ham and cheese with eggs for breakfast. When I stay at home, I spend time on my art. I like to read, paint, sketch and draw. I cook a lot and I tend to my garden. I am a homebody and I am not the kind of person that goes out for meals. Home is always a place of warmth, simple moments and comfort for me.

As my parents are taking care of my nephew and niece at my brother and sister in law house, I started to do chores and laundry. Apart from leaving home early in the morning for grocery run, I typically stay at home. I don’t like to order online food and prefer to cook at home. Even in the quiet crevices of the day at home, I am very productive. I check my work emails, attend zoom meeting and work on my projects in the late afternoon. At night, I cook my meals, do house chores and watch movies with my iPad open and unused beside me.

I always enjoy watching movies at night for relaxation. A beautiful workplace at home can lift the spirit. Achieving a work life balance at home is challenging and my creativity still flows. One thing is clear. I will take this uncertain time as a learning journey and turning it into an opportunity to make my life extraordinary and change the world for the better.

My room features a Wall Luxury Tv offering a user interface experience based on lifestyle and preference. Red curtain provide another dimension to my room. One must have a room solely for work, leisure and at the same time relaxation. I am at my table sketching with pen, pencil, topic markers and sometimes with my iPad. My Macbook are for my work.  At home, I find myself making more time for rest and relaxation, there are less commute time on the crowded road. There is also the comfort that comes from being in my own space, own things and I can cook while I work.

Being at home is actually positive when it comes to creative thinking and I can spend time on reflective thought working things out in my mind. Difficult times often present me with the opportunity to reinvent myself to become a better me.
