Chinatown Heritage Centre

The Chinatown Heritage Centre is located within three beautifully restored shophouses on Pagoda Street Singapore. It is a mini museum that captures and holds deep stories of the past of Singapore.

In the centre, you will be able to gain insights of the lives of traders, labourers, immigrants in the Singapore older days. The centre is recreated and designed inspired by the original interiors of the shophouses tenant in the 1950s.

In the 1950, four typical shophouses has two or more stories where owner uses the ground level for conducting business and the upper storey for his residential needs. Singapore shophouses were built with symmetry and follow the patterns of the ancient Chinese universal balance.

Nancy love long walks down the streets of Singapore and appreciates the architectural symmetry. Walk the street of Singapore today and you will see amazing skyscraper, high rise residential and modern buildings. Furthermore, you will also see many classic shophouses of varying styles and designs. They are the icons that reflect our history and heritage.

Shophouse was originally based on the tradition houses located in China where majority of the Singapore immigrants came from.  Educated as a designer, Nancy likes to combine her experience with her passion for travel.

The rickshaw is another symbol of Singapore culture and is a mode of road transportation in 1950s. The artwork aims to reveal the beauty of Singapore through illustration and pays tribute to the classic architectural icon in Singapore.
